Sverre holds a degree in business administration and has more than ten years of experience in accounting and financial controlling within the development sector. He served as Finance Manager at the Student and Academics’ International Assistance Fund (SAIH) from 2009 to 2011, before spending seven years as a Financial Controller at Norwegian Church Aid.

In these roles, he gained broad experience in financial controlling, financial follow-up, and anti-corruption work, with a particular focus on Southern and Eastern Africa.

As a partner at Accurat AS, Sverre provides accounting services to several non-profit and development organisations. He also undertakes consultancy assignments focused on financial management in development organisations. His work includes supporting Atlas-Alliansen with the finalisation of budgets for a Norad funding application, evaluating the anti-corruption framework of the Norwegian Afghanistan Committee, and carrying out controller functions for the Forum for Women and Development.

MARIA AGØY SAND

Maria Agøy Sand holds a degree in business administration and is a partner at Accurat AS. She has broad experience in financial management and control, organisational development, and leadership. Prior to joining Accurat, Maria spent more than eight years at Norwegian Church Aid, where she served as Section Manager with responsibility for the organisation’s global financial management. In this role, she led a team of 9–14 financial controllers and finance officers.

As a partner at Accurat AS, Maria has served on multiple occasions as an interim CFO and finance manager. She has conducted organisational reviews, worked as a permanent controller, and played a key role in developing financial procedures and structuring finance functions. Maria has also held assignments as a Grant Manager and has a strong understanding of financial management within grant-funded programmes.

EIVOR HAUSKEN SANDE

Eivor holds a Licentiate degree in Economics (equivalent to a Master’s degree in business administration) from the University of Valencia and became a partner at Accurat in August 2020. She previously served for six years as Global Head of Accounting at Norwegian Church Aid, with responsibility for annual turnover exceeding NOK 1 billion, consolidation of accounts from 20 country offices, and regular reporting to the Board on budgeting and financial management.

Eivor also has field experience as Finance Manager in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where she worked with follow-up, capacity strengthening, and monitoring of local partners in development and humanitarian projects. She is a technical super-user of the Maconomy ERP system (financial management) and is fluent in both Spanish and French.

YUL MALDE

Yul is a Fellow Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and has more than 25 years of experience in the development and humanitarian sector. He has worked extensively with investigations, organisational reviews, financial control, and both internal and external audit. Originally from Kenya, Yul has lived and worked in several countries, including Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia, and the United Kingdom.

Early in his career, Yul worked with PwC in Birmingham and Dar es Salaam. He later spent 14 years in various roles related to financial management, internal audit, and HR at Save the Children and Norwegian Church Aid. In 2014, Yul was part of the team that established International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) at KPMG Norway, and during the same period he was seconded for several years to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Norad. Yul has carried out numerous special audits and investigations for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Norwegian civil society organisations.

Since joining Accurat in 2021, Yul has primarily worked on advising and supporting organisations in mapping risk factors, identifying targeted mitigation measures, and providing hands-on follow-up. He has extensive experience in strengthening procedures and internal processes to reduce the risk of fraud and misuse of resources, and is engaged by several organisations to provide support in this area.

Linda Brox holds a degree in business administration with a Master’s degree in Business Strategy and has more than 12 years of experience in financial management within the development sector.

Linda joined Accurat in 2021 and previously worked at Norwegian People’s Aid. She has extensive experience in financial budgeting and reporting to Norad and other donors. Linda has also worked closely with follow-up of international partners and has developed systems for partner management, including risk assessments and partner reviews/due diligence.

In recent years, she has focused particularly on developing and improving financial procedures and follow-up, both internally within organisations and in collaboration with local partners. Linda is especially skilled at collaborating with and communicating financial information to non-financial staff, such as programme officers and development advisors.

KINGA WOLSKA

Accounting Officer

Kinga holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Warsaw.

In Poland, Kinga led an accounting department and worked as a certified accountant. She also has experience managing full-scope accounting (A–Z) for non-governmental organisations in Poland and has a strong understanding of how civil society organisations operate.

Prior to joining Accurat, Kinga worked as an Accounting Officer at Alfa Regnskap AS from 2020 to 2022.

Kinga has been employed at Accurat since September 2022. At Accurat, she works as an accountant and serves as the primary contact person for several organisations and foundations. Her responsibilities include end-to-end accounting, such as bookkeeping and invoicing, reconciliations related to monthly closings, payroll calculations, and support in connection with annual financial statements.

Christian holds a degree in business administration and is a qualified auditor. He is a certified public accountant in Norway and has many years of experience as an accountant with responsibility for client portfolios. Christian has also worked with quality assurance, accounting for Swedish clients, and audit assignments, as well as bookkeeping, budgeting, reporting, and financial advisory services.

In addition to his accounting background, Christian has extensive experience from the development sector. He worked for three years as a Regional Financial Coordinator for East Africa, based in Nairobi, where he supported financial management, coordination, and follow-up across country operations.

In addition to Swedish and English, Christian is fluent in French and Swahili.

Tommy holds a degree in economics from Stockholm University and has had an extensive international career in senior financial management roles within the private sector. He joined Accurat in April 2022 and currently serves, among other roles, as Controller for the Rainforest Foundation Norway, the Student and Academics’ International Assistance Fund (SAIH), CARE Norway, and WWF Norway.

Prior to joining Accurat, Tommy worked for eight years as a Controller at Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), providing financial and accounting support to NCA’s country offices, including Sudan, Zambia, and Iraq. His responsibilities included capacity building for finance staff, both internally and among partner organisations. His work also covered budgeting, management of partner accounts, follow-up of unspent funds, and preparation of funding applications and donor reporting.

For several years, Tommy supported the finance function at Norwegian Church Aid’s office in Angola, which involved regular extended stays in the country. He has lived and worked in multiple regions worldwide, including South America, Africa, and the Middle East.

Tommy is fluent in English and Spanish and has a good working knowledge of Portuguese.

JOHANNE WALTHINSEN

Senior Consultant and Project Manager

Johanne holds a Master’s degree in African Studies from SOAS University of London and has more than 12 years of experience as a project manager. Prior to joining Accurat, she worked as Senior Project Manager in NHO’s International Department, where she led a Norad-funded cooperation programme with LO, implementing projects in four countries in the Global South. She continues to manage this programme for NHO in her current role as a consultant.

Johanne previously worked for four years at Norwegian Church Aid within global logistics, focusing on donor compliance and risk management. In this role, she was responsible for eight country offices in Southern Africa as well as the organisation’s response in Ukraine. She travelled frequently to country offices, conducting compliance audits and organisational reviews, and delivering training in procurement and logistics and anti-corruption.

Johanne has extensive experience in strengthening procedures and systems at head office level, in country offices, and with partner organisations. She is particularly skilled in capacity building among local staff.

Johanne has also studied at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and later served as Team Leader for Private Sector Development and Business Promotion at the Norwegian Embassy in Tanzania. She has a strong understanding of grant management, risk management, and project management. Johanne is fluent in English and Swahili and is currently working towards fluency in French.

KATHERINE MBUGUA

Katherine Mbugua is based in Nairobi and serves as Tarucca’s General Manager for the East Africa region. She has more than 25 years of professional experience working with both local and international non-governmental organisations.

Katherine has held senior finance and management positions in several international organisations, including Norwegian Church Aid as Finance and Human Resources Manager for the Kenya and Somalia programmes, SOS Children’s Villages in Somalia and Somaliland, as well as Kenyan organisations such as the Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS). She has extensive experience working across Kenya, Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, and Ethiopia.

In recent years, Katherine has provided financial management and grant management support to a wide range of development organisations, including:

Norad-funded organisations: CARE Norway, Norwegian Pentecostal Mission (Pinse Bistand), FOKUS Norway (Forum for Women and Development), Stefanus Alliance International Norway, RHF Norway (Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association), Youth Mental Health Norway (Mental Helse Ungdom), and NAD Norway (Norwegian Association of Disabled).

Sida-funded organisations: ACT Church of Sweden and Union to Union Sweden.

Katherine is an experienced Finance and Grants Manager with strong analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of financial deliverables and donor reporting. Her expertise includes organisational reviews, compliance with donor grant agreements, project and partner audits, training of managers and staff, anti-corruption controls, and management of human resources and administrative functions.

Her extensive experience enables her to quickly identify risks and weaknesses in financial and grant management systems and to recommend and implement targeted improvements. Katherine has a proven track record of delivering high-quality reports and is equally effective working independently and as part of a team. She consistently receives positive feedback from clients, who value her professionalism, sound judgement, and practical approach.

Accurat Malawi

JOANNA KAPHIRI NKHOMA

General Manager, Accurat Malawi and certified accountant

Joanna is a Chartered Accountant and a registered member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi. Joanna is based in Lilongwe. Joanna has extensive and practical experience in project management, accounting and financial management.

 

Joanna has assisted Norwegian organizations in establishing themselves in Malawi, and has worked on enforcing internal control routines. Joanna is known for her skills in providing on-the-job training to employees and in delivering courses. Having worked in the NGO sector for over twenty years at various levels including senior management, Joanna has solid experience in project management and in meeting Norad and UD's contractual requirements.
